Tough challenges faced by web designers

Graphic designers are professionals who use their technical and creative skills to create an extraordinary platform to communicate, that not only delivers the message and the mission of a business but does it so accurately that the identity of the business is etched in the minds of the viewers. That platform is a website.

Web design, however is not all there is to it. Gone are the days when the web designers just needed to learn their fancy codes for forming tables and hyperlinking pages to dazzle their clients with the webpage. Today, they are harder to please. An aspiring web designer, who is passionate about web design, will most definitely want the viewers to be in awe of his work. But what are the difficulties and blunders they may face? Today, especially startup web designers quit at an early stage, because they feel that their artwork is not good enough.

Web designing is not just one skill

Designing amazing interfaces is not all that’s needed. With developing technology, one has to learn making style sheets, database, PHP and Photoshop too! Knowing these skills and more will allow web designers to come up with web designs that support various plugins and extensions, making it more user friendly for the viewers.

Work only so hard to stand out

Web designers often spend time wondering how they can stand out on knowing standard web design skills and often fall in a rut of making different variation of a same site (unintentionally). Advice given to web designers is not to restrict themselves to Photoshop and experiment with other mediums as well (pottery, painting) looking for inspiration from various places.

Understanding the client

Web designers can maximize their creativity to make a spectacular design but is it what the business wants? Business would hire a web design company not just because they are impressed by the designs but they also calculate how the design can bring value to their business. What a web designer may want may not agree with the business and vice versa. These clashes should be avoided by first understanding the business and leaving no room for ambiguity and miscommunication.

Know it all?

Web designers have to be skilled when it comes to graphics and the codes too. However, will knowing every language, every code written in the book (or online) really be necessary? Web designers are advised to master a few skills rather than be mediocre in all. Because in the end, all of it comes together and with sufficient time and practice, web designers become proficient in their designing.

The most important factor in getting a web design prepared is the compatibility and the qualification of a web designer. There is a common misconception that a web designer qualified in several languages and interfaces is a better choice as compared to an ordinary one.
